Children's Ministry
Vision of the Children’s Ministry
“He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded
our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children
yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope
in God.” (Psalm 78:5-7a).
This text serves as the foundation for our ministry to children at Harvard Avenue and drives our conviction that
there is much we can do to equip families and nurture the faith of the children entrusted to us. Each morning we
awake to a world that is relentlessly competing for our children’s attention and thus our mission is all the more
urgent. Our vision for our children must be far greater than that of the world’s.
Harvard Avenue has a thriving Children's Ministry which reinforces the church's mission of "Connecting all
people to Christ, His community, and His calling." As a family oriented church, we strive to shape all of our
children's programs to reflect this mission.
Our Mission is to connect kids to Christ, His community, and His calling by partnering with families who
themselves are committed to nurturing the faith of the next generation.

Role of the Children’s Ministry
The Bible clearly and consistently gives the primary responsibility for teaching and discipling children to their
parents (Dt. 4:9, 6:2,4-9,21; Ps. 78:1-7; Prv. 22:6; Eph. 6:4; 1 Thess. 2:11-12). Our nursery, preschool, and
elementary programs surely can help reaffirm what parents are teaching, but will always fail to be the primary
influence in their lives.
With this in mind, the primary role of the children’s ministry is to assist parents in discipling their

Our Goal is to raise the standard as high in children’s ministry as we do in all other areas of ministry
at Harvard Avenue by:
- Taking your child’s safety seriously.
We are committed to providing a safe environment by the way we recruit and train our teachers and secure our children’s wing.- Taking your child’s Bible education seriously.
We are committed to helping expand your child’s vision of God with the same degree of passion as demonstrated in the youth and adult education ministries.- Taking your child seriously.
We value children as much as we value every other age group. Our prayer is that God will so work at Harvard Avenue that we always welcome, teach, minister, love, and value children because our Lord did (Mark 10:13-16).
What We Do
Bearing in mind our foundational conviction that parents are the chief instrument in a child’s discipleship, we believe that there is much to be gained when parents and the children’s ministry work together. Here are a few ways parents can partner with our ministry:
1. Enroll Your Child in Children’s Sunday School 2. Worship Together as a Family
3. Have Your Child Attend Our Children’s Programs:
Parables (Children's Choir)
Nursery
Preschool
AWANA
4. Utilize Family Resources
