How do I become a member of HABC?

Membership Matters at Harvard Avenue Baptist Church
We take membership very seriously at HABC.  Our membership process is simple, informative, and focuses on building meaningful relationships.

Simple Membership Process:

Initiate
You can initiate the membership process by enrolling in our Starting Point course (click here). This class provides both new believers, prospective members, and various church members the opportunity to build a firm foundation for membership at HABC.  After this course you will understand  our core beliefs, vision, strategy, and expectations.  You will also build relationships with our pastor and other new and current church members.  This course is required for membership at HABC.

Inform

After completing the Starting Point Course, all new members will be presented to the church on a Sunday Morning.  This is an opportunity to recognize our new members and gives everyone an opportunity to greet and welcome you into the body.

Requirements for Membership:
There are four main requirements for membership at HABC.

1.
A personal relationship with Jesus Christ: Our first priority is to make sure that everyone who comes through our doors understands what it means to know Jesus as savior and Lord.

2.  Believers Baptism:  We believe that identification with Christ through believers baptism is required for membership. Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper.

3.  Starting Point Course:  This course provides both new believers, prospective members, and various church members the opportunity to build a firm foundation for membership at HABC.  After this course you will understand  our core beliefs, vision, strategy, and expectations.  You will also build relationships with our pastor and other new and current church members.  This course is required for membership at HABC.

4.  Membership Interview:  One of our pastors will meet with all prospective members for a membership interview.  This will be an opportunity to hear your testimony, answer and remaining questions, and finalize the membership process.

5.  Presentation to the Church:  After completing the Starting Point Course, all new members will be presented to the church on a Sunday Morning.  This is an opportunity to recognize our new members and gives everyone an opportunity to greet and welcome you into the body.
