PRAY: Prayer Emphasis Week & Gathering
Join us for a week of prayer for international missions beginning Monday, Dec. 1st. We will also have a Praise & Prayer Gathering on Friday, Dec. 5th at 7:00pm. Prayer guides will be available next Sunday morning.
GIVE: Missions Offering
Please give sacrificially and generously to the HABC Global Missions Offering! You may give on any of the Sundays throughout December, however we will have a special offering on Sunday, Dec. 21st. Simply mark “Global Missions” on your check or envelope.
GO: Mission Trips
Consider joining one of our 2015 short-term mission teams. We hope to send groups to Philadelphia, Israel, and Spain.
On December 14th the High School Sunday School group is invited to a Christmas party at the home of Chad and Amy Mann (2117 W. Twin Springs). Students that are 9th-12th grade should bring a gift (under $5 value or a repackage) for the white elephant gift exchange. A meal will not be served but there will be plenty of snacks. The time is from 6pm -8pm. Contact Pastor Chad with any questions.
On December 13th, from 6pm to 8pm, our 7th-8th Grade Sunday School group will meet at the home of Steven and Leann Johnson (13331 Fairway Ct) for a time of fellowship, games, food, and fun. There will be a time for gift exchange game as well.
On January 23-24 there will be a two day retreat at Sky Ranch Camp in Quapaw, OK for our students and college group. The weekend will focus on godly leadership, spiritual gifts, and what it means to live for Christ. There will be various worship sessions, small groups, activities, and recreation. The cost is $30 and registration forms are available at the Welcome Center. For more info contact Chad Mann or Lawson Hembree.
The Core Essentials class listings for next semester are available in today’s worship guide. Class descriptions are available at the Welcome Center. Registration will be available online at www.habc.net/sundayschool beginning December 1st.
There will be a training time for all AWANA volunteers Sunday, 12/07 in the chapel. The training will be from 3:00pm to 4:30pm.
You can nominate someone to be a deacon or elder by filling out a nomination form located at the welcome center or the church office. Forms must be returned in a sealed envelop to the church office by Monday, December 1st. All nominations are to be held in strict confidence. (Please DO NOT tell your nominee that you are nominating him. Those who submit nominations will not be updated of the status of their nomination during the process.)
Starting in November, Pastor Chad will be leading a weekly book study for middle school and high school students. The study will take place on Monday mornings at 7am here in the cafe. The study will be on "Fifty Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die" by John Piper. The cost of the book is $10 (available in our bookstore). Students can sign up by texting Chad Mann at 479-549-5994. Note: Any middle school students that attend will have transportation provided to school from book study each week.
We will be serving alongside our missionary partners to reach the Israeli-Arab Muslim people group. The tentative dates for next year’s trip are June 19-27. If you have any interest in joining this team, please mark your calendars and begin saving for the trip. The costs will be in the range of $2200-2800, depending on airfare. Pastor Tad will begin a new men’s book study Oct. 16 at 6:30am in the café. We will be reading a book titled, What’s Best Next: How the gospel transforms the way you get things done. This should be a very practical and helpful book. Books will be available next week, October 5, in the café for $15. Read the intro and chapter 1 for discussion on the 16th.
The College and Career Class meets at 9:15am each Sunday in Room 12. Our topic this semester is "What is Your Filter? Christian Worldview and Apologetics." Coffee and breakfast snacks are provided each week.
The dates for the Philly Mission Trip will be over the Spring Break week in 2015. We will be taking a group to minister and serve alongside of Ridgeline Community Church on March 20-28. There will be an interest meeting for the trip on Sunday, December 14th at 2:30pm in the chapel. We meet each Tuesday evening at 8pm at the JBU Walker Student Center to discuss God's Word and pray together. This semester we will be studying Romans 1-7.
